1. What is Affirmative Action?
Affirmative action is also referred to as reservations. These are sets of policies that include rules mandated by the government. These laws are sanctioned by the government and these include voluntary programs.
2. Why was it created?
It had been created by the president so that the government employees would not be discriminating against any individual, either in their favour or against them, on the basis of the origin or colour or race of the individual.
3. Who benefits most from this policy?
This policy benefits women (white or of colour), men of colour, and minority groups.
4. What are one to two arguments for Affirmative Action?
One argument in favour of affirmative action is that it is ensured that there would e maintenance of diversity as well as ensuring that people of different communities would not be discriminated against. Disadvantaged people are helped to obtain equal opportunities.
5. What are one to two arguments against Affirmative Action?
It is a sort of reverse discrimination. Earlier, the discrimination was done against the minority groups, and now discrimination is done against fhenon minority groups. Some people might not be qualified for a position that they have been given due to affirmative action.
