Explain what can be done to decrease incidence and mortality of cancer and improve survival rates in African Americans?
One of the most important ways to reduce or eliminate the deaths of the African Americans from cancer is to fight the institutional racism that neglects them from getting education, employment, housing, healthcare, property etc. Lack of access to resources makes them vulnerable to cancer deaths. So, breaking the institutional racism and working towards equality in terms of both equal treatment and equal opportunities would help them overcome it. Secondly, government may introduce a free comprehensive medical insurance that would cover all the diseases thus help them access medical facilities and treatments without the fear of the cost. Thirdly, the neighborhood in which most of the African Americans live are contaminated in terms of alcohol, drugs, crimes and unsafe streets. Improving their life by providing better streets and surveillance would help them overcome most of the health-related troubles that they undergo.
