We can tackle the problems when one trans-gene is inserted into the nucleolus instead of the chloroplast wile creating transplastomic plants. There are distinct advantages of creating the transplastomic plants by introducing the trans-gene into the chloroplast in contrary to the nucleolus. They can be listed as follows:
)Since the nucleolus is responsible for the proteins and the RNA, it is highly likely that when the trans-gene is inserted into the nucleolus, it will result in the foreign protein being produced because of the heightened expression levels of the trans-gene.
)The chloroplast can be instantly injected with the trans-gene with no position barriers coming up especially as in the case of the nuclear genome, it becomes tedious to decide the actual position where the trans-gene will be injected.
)The risk of epigenetic implications is eliminated due to the use of chloroplasts. Hence, the trans-gene will be automatically inherited.
)The expression levels of the transgenes are not curbed in the chloroplast genome and the operons function actively in their genetic expression.
