In your own words/understanding describe the correlation between stress and neuroimmunology. Please type the answer.
There is a strong relationship about the effect of stress on immune system response. The sympathetic stimulus through sympathetic fiber comes from brain into both primary and secondary lymphoid tissues .This stimulus can produce group of substances that affect immune responses by attaching to the receptors on WBC .Even though lymphocytes have adrenergic receptors which affect the responsiveness of lymphocytes to stress among cell subsets. As an example : if we are considering the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis which secrete adrenal hormones like adrenaline and noradrenaline .They bind to specific receptors on WBC and have different regulatory effects on the distribution and function of immune system . In times of stressful event, person tries to engage in some other behaviours like alcohol use, change in sleeping pattern and food habits which could result in changes in immune system process. Stress can lead to depression, reduced social interaction, sexual activity and can lead to depression .There is a parallel relationship between behaviour neuro endocrine, temperature responses. Stress is mostly immunosuppressive.
