Ovaries secrets-

1. Estrogen - promotes growth of ovarian follicle. Prepares uterus for fertilization. Responsible for development of secondary sēxual characters. Have osteoclastic activity.

2. Progesterone- promotes secretory activity of uterine endometrium. It is concerned with final preparation of uterus for pregnancy and breasts for lactation.

3. Inhibin- secreted by granulosa cells. It inhibits FSH secretion through feedback mechanism.

4. Relaxin- secreted by maternal ovary (corpus luteum) . It helps labor by softening the cervix and loosening the ligaments of symphysis pubis. Dilates the cervix.

5. Androgen- small quantities is produced by ovaries. This androgen- is converted into estrogen.

Estrogen and progesterone are primary and main hormones. Rest are secondary.

Estrogen is the main hormone responsible for secondary sexúal characters. Inhibin- controls estrogen production by inhibiting it's release. By feedback mechanism, it reduces production of GnRH ,thus FSH is also reduced which eventually reduces estrogen.
