Some have suggested one of the primary roles of those in a leadership position is to focus on supporting the self-worth of followers which, in turn, leads to task performance provided to the leader. Consider ways follower perceptions of leaders and leader perceptions of followers encourage or discourage growth or engagement toward these ends. What strategies or adjustments might a leader have to make within his/her own behavior, thinking, or worldview when follower perceptions of the leader are misaligned with the leader’s perceptions of self?
A good and successful leader comes to such a position only when he is able to understand and respect his followers or his team under any circumstances.
It is a general psychology of followers in situations where they are made to feel important and responsible they will prepare themselves to do anything for the leader.
Bringing in this psychological need the leader as a first step should learn to respect a0nd focus on supporting the self worth of followers which in turn will lead to excellent task performance done for the leader.
Followers understanding of leaders and vice versa leaders understanding of the followers will definitely encourage towards the positive and fruitful achievement of the objective for both or in common.

A good leader should be a good listener. He should listen to his followers at any situation and then come to a conclusion on any issue or matter.
He should have a positive approach towards all situations.
His words should be more encouraging and motivating among his followers.
He should try to make every individual feel important.
Creative and innovative ideas should be welcomed at all kind of situations.
He should try to involve his followers in decision making.
