Résumé is a French word and it literally means a summary of relevant job experience and education and in English it’s written as resume. It’s very commonly used for applying for a job. A typical resume includes the contact details, objective, educational qualifications, work experience, skillsets, achievements, extra and co-curricular participation, personal details. Resume has gone through lots of changes these days because there is a fresher’s resume, middle manager’s resume and a top executive’s resume. Resume is the written form of one’s self-introduction and the self-introduction during the interview is the spoken form of a resume. A resume is normally accompanied by a cover letter which typically a resume written in an essay format.
Resume is the visiting card for a fresher or for anyone who seeks a job. The employers browse through the resume collection and choose whoever has the skills and qualifications thus calling them for an interview but of course there will be other processes such as group discussion, aptitude tests etc. before the interview. Resume has got different names in different countries such as CV (Curriculum Vitae) in western countries and Biodata in some of the eastern countries.
The word resume means to start the paused work that we were doing earlier again. It’s a verb or a noun in case of Résumé.
