Building code effects every member of construction society which includes contractors as well as students and professional.

Argument against building codes are generally made by experienced contractors and veterans who have worked in the industry for long and have handles a lots of projects.

Argument against building codes:

1: with the restrictions to follow code it becomes important to follow the code anyhow thus if a builder or contractor want to extend the quality of poject enhanced beyond the limit, it may happen that the project is defying the building code thus making the building illegal even after he is setting quality standard higher than that of generally used.

2: shortage in skills of builders is considered more important than that of following the code considering to enhance the project scope. It is said that if the industry will be working with well trained and professional personnel it will get good outcomes than just by following building codes. With codes gotten stricter the skill development of workers has reduced drastically as a single person in the construction site will make everyone work with just having a knowledge of code which in turn has reduced number of skilled workers in industry. This condition is exploted by contractor as they hire cheaper labour to get more profit which in turn increases unemployment as skilled youth aren't employed as being restrictions of code and when just code is to be followed it isn't necessary to have a lot of skilled workers in site, hence youth can't get a way to be a master planner easily. With this reduce in skilled labour it will become tough to enhnace the project scope as number of master planner will reduce.

3: for any building code safety is the utmost priority however as homeowners are not savvy about quality of material used and about what should be the best way or practice to follow from building codes they get fooled by contractor for quality of work.

4: innovative designs: as design is limited by the thinking and imagination of designer, a project designed not necessarily can be implemented in ground as due to building codes. There may be possibility that for a design no such code is available to look upto but if they want to construct it anyhow then this can be illlegal. Hence there is requirement of some thing just more than building codes , so that Innovative project can be implemented in real life.
