Why it is important for a Doctor of Chiropractic to be recognized as a "Primary Health Care Provider" from the perspective of both the patient and doctor?
Chiropractic doctors do not possess and qualification recognized by modern system of medicine. However they do diagnose musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders and perform some non invasive interventions accordingly.
In many cases there are some to excellent short term benefit...also some long term benefits are also evident at places.
Certain benefits of recognizing chiropractics:
1. Cost effective
2.mostly safe and non invasive
3. 1:1 care for patients and structural interventions
4. Some mobility benefits are observed which is not producible by analgesic or anti anxiety drugs
5. Good communication which benefits patients psychologically
6. Decreases overall burden on physicians: as chiropractics are taking care of a huge % of functional and rheumatoid patients NOT otimally amenable to standard therapy.
7. May improve overall quality of life
One word of caution: They should be regarded but under some supervision and restrictions. They should be thoroughly trained in Anatomy and physiology from accrediated institutions. As less sound basic knowledge may at times lead to catastrophy.
