Explain why all protein sources are not the same. (Hint: think about limiting amino acids and complementary proteins)
ANSWER: There are two classes of amino acids- essential and non essential amino acids. Essential amino acids cannot be synthesized by our body. Hence they must be taken with our daily diet. However, all proteins that we consume are not same. There are some foods which are complete source of proteins whereas others are not. When we say complete or incomplete, it lies in the amount amd quality of amino acids it contains. A complete source of protein means it must contain all the 9 essential amino acids in correct proportion that the human body needs. Generally, animal source of edible products like milk, eggs, chicken, turkey, fish contains all the 9 essential amino acids. Plant based sources including rice, legumes, nuts are incomplete source of protein. However, soya bean has all the essential amino acid in it. So even the veggies can stick to this source which gives them all the amino acids they need. So it is also important for a person to intake all the food stuffs as two foods of incomplete protein source may combine to form a complete source to supply all the essential aminoacids the person want.
