What are the different types of environmental standards? Give an example for each type

Environmental Standards :- Setting that follows a set of procedures involving years of scientific research and a series of formal public reviews.
There are basically three types of environmental standards as given below ;
Ambient Standard;
A standard that designates the quality of the environment to be achieved, typically expressed as a ma allowable pollution level,
Not directly enforceable but services as a target to be achieved.
. An example of this differentiation is the setting of “critical loads” for acidic depositions in various areas of Europe and Asia.
Technology-Based Standard;
A standard that designates the equipment or method to be used to achieve some certain abatement level
Example: Scrubber system in coal-burning power plants.
Performance-Based Standard:
A standard that specifies a pollution limit to be achieved but does not stipulate the technology at the firm limit
Example : Car emission test
