What do inducement theorists argue regarding the medical market, as discussed by Cromwell and Mitchell in "Physician-induced demand for surgery"
In general Physician induced demand refers to the demand of the victims for care at the interpretation of the surgeon which is fulfilled on the whole by them to the utmost interests of the patients. As per the theories of Cromwell and Janet Mitchell, the surgeons where in short supply that led to drastic change or affected the surgery rates. Even this small change in the supply of surgeons affected plentiful areas as well.
The inducement theorists argue certain factors of induced demand for medical prescription . They are,
The patients are generally not aware of their basic rights and they not have a clear platform for the rectification or to complaint about the physicians. They are often forbidden and or not told about the informations and are often misguided by informal or unfair informations. There is no facilities for direct communication between the Surgeons and patients .
This is regarded as one of the most important factors that paves the way for induced demand in medical prescriptions . The three important persons involved in this concern is the: the Physician, pharmacist and the pharmacuetical companies . They over prescribe inorder to earn more income. The main aim of induviduals and organizations is lobbying the patients and increasing their incomes in returns. They make deals within themselves and exchange the patients for buying drugs.
In conclusions the study says that the Induced demand hypothesis is multi branched and various factors of medical sociology must be overviewed inorder to regulate the over prescriptions and reconsidered in order to avoid unnecessary prescription of medicines.
