Explain what Leadership is and what leaders do.
Leadership is a process through which a manager can direct, lead and influence the behavior and work of others in a given situation to achieve particular goals. Leadership is a manager 's ability to encourage his subordinates to work with trust and zeal.
Leadership can influence other people's behaviour. The ability to influence a group to achieve an objective is also defined. Leaders are required to develop future views and encourage the members of the organization to achieve their visions.
Keith Davis says "leadership means that others can be enthusiastic about searching for defined aims. It is the human factor that unites a group and motivates them to achieve objectives.
Leaders help to do the right things for themselves and other people. They direct, create a vision and create something new. Leadership is to map out where you must go as a team or as an organization to "earn" and is dynamic, thrilling and inspiring.
However, while leaders are guiding them, they must also use management skills to guide their people smoothly and efficiently to the right place.
We will focus in this article on the leadership process. In particular, we are discussing James MacGregor Burns and Bernard Bass, who initially proposed and then developed the "transformative leadership" model. This model emphasizes visionary thinking and changes rather than management processes that are designed to maintain and improve current performance steadily.
Describe the communication process and the various kinds of communication in organizations.
Communication process is set of steps which are taken during a formal conversation in an organization. The motive is that the receiver may get what is communicated to him. Employees communicate many times in a day by emails, face to face meetings, chats, phone calls,or any social media application etc.
Because employees are divided into different departments and coordination is very important amongst them hence effective communication is very important in an organization.
The Communication Process Model- As I have stated above communication process are set of steps which are taken during a formal conversation in an organization. Here are the steps-
Source- The message is initiated by the source. It may be group, individual or inanimate object. This is who started the communication
Encoding- The moment the source has decided what message is to communicate the second step is that he should decide how the content should be kept that the receiver feel easy to understand
Now the sender uses his views in the communication and it is affected by the sender’s education, language, interpersonal relationship, knowledge, attitude, experience etc.
The content- The message contains the thought, ideas, and conceptual content. The message which is to be conveyed needs a channel. The channel is the medium from which the message travels.
If the sender has sent voice as a medium it will be called oral communication and if it is in written then it will be called written communication.
The medium may be phone, letter, and e-mail. Telephone, internet etc.
Decoding- Now the receiver understand the message in proper perspective. He understands what the message means. It depends on the receiver’s knowledge, education, experience etc as well as sender’s virtues as I have stated above.
Receiver- Receiver is the person to whom the communication has been sent.
Feedback- The last step of the communication process is the feedback. The feedback means that the sender should be insured that the message sent by him has been clearly understood by the receiver. The confirmation is feedback. If the feedback is positive it means that the communication is effective.
Explain how managers can manage effective one-on-one communication.
One to one communication occurs when one person speaks or rights
to another person.Managers can effectively communicate on one to
one basis by building a good report with the service user.
Effective communication is a two way process in which both the
speaker and listener have to pay attention to each other.
Communication can be only effective if both of them focus on the
objective of the interaction and coordinate each other with the
helpful and positive way. Effective communication always ends with
providing a brief summary of the entire communication and ending
the whole communication in a positive approach between both the
speakers and listeners.
