(Strawbery DNA Extraction lab) Would you expect to get similar results if you used a different source of celss, such ss beef lived? explain

Solutions

Expert Solution

Yes

We will get similar results if we use a different source of cells but a same protocol. It is because the principle behind the extraction of DNA is same for all the cells.

Certain differences are there in the procedure which are due to the differences in the cells. For example, cell wall is present in the cells of strawberry and therefore we will use cellulase enzyme but it is absent in case of animal cells so we will not use it in case of beef.

The quantity of the DNA which is obtained may defer and the quality also may differ but yes we will get some DNA using same protocol but different cells.

Please give a good rating.

As a reminder, PCR is the technique used to replicate DNA in the lab. PCR is based on the way DNA is replicated in cells. During PCR template DNA plus other ingredients are placed in a test tube and the solution goes through repeated cycles of heating and cooling. The 'ingredients' of a basic PCR reaction are: DNA template, primer, nucleotides, DNA polymerase, and any salts required for polymerase function (buffer). No ligase is required in PCR but it is...
