Describe how arterial compliance is responsible for ensuring constant blood flow from a pulsatile source (the heart).

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans:-

Concept :- compliance refers to the elastic, and stretchable property of artery . When blood vol INCREEASEs it can stretch.

now

we know that heart pumps blood in a pulsatile fashion but the blood which reaches the end organ and tissues are in a continuous manner this pulsatile flow to continuous flow is converted bi arteries.

the main property of artery which help in in maintaining this continuous flow of blood is compliance of artery compliance of artery refers to the elastic and stretchability power power of the arteries. When left ventricle contract to pump the blood the large volume of blood Russian to artery which cause arterial expansion and when the ventricle is relaxation phase then volume of blood and pressure of blood is left in arteries during this time artery uses it elastic recoil to pump the blood towards different part of the world.

from paragraph we can see that artery act as a reservoir when heart contract to pump the blood and when the heart is not pumping the blood then it act as a source to give a continuous slide to the and organs and tissue in this way it maintains continuous flow of blood in spite of receiving a pulsatile flow from the heart.
