If a man had high levels of gonadotropin-releasing hormone, what might be the explanation?
A. he is missing his posterior pituitary gland
B. he will be releasing little FSH and LH into circulation as a result
C. he may be using an anabolic steroid drug
D. he may have recently undergone testes removal (castration)
Ans:- D. he may have recently undergone testes removal (castration)
concept:- hormone release is always regulated by negative feed back loop .
after castration no testosterone is produced so there is no negative feed back to hypothalamus to decrease production of gonadotropin releasing hormone.
another reason
after castration level of testosterone decreases which is detected by hypothalamus . So to stimulate it's production it start producing more GnRH so that more LH and FSH is produced which will stimulate testosterone formation.
