–Vaccines are substances that help provide acquired immunity in
children and adults against infections.
–Vaccines contain killed, live or attenuated microbes or their
particles.
–There has been an ongoing debate about the advantages and
disadvantages of vaccines ever since its development. Many believe
that vaccine protects against many life threatening diseases and
outnumbers its disadvantages.
–But some do believe that vaccines are not needed for children and
they contain natural immunity against diseases. –Some parents fear
vaccines. Vaccines do have some mild to moderate side effects such
as rash and pain around the site of injection, fever, allergic
reactions.
– Severe adverse effects of vaccine though rare are present. The
injected microbe may cause severe infection and allergy resulting
in encephalitis, optic neuriis or anaphylactic reactions that may
cause death or neurological disorders.
– chances of vaccine related adverse effects are more common in
children with weakened immunity or immunological disorders.
- parents fear that thw harmful effects or vaccine may cause
permanent damage to child's health and prefer to stick to natural
immunity to fight the infections.
