–Vaccines are substances that help provide acquired immunity in children and adults against infections.
–Vaccines contain killed, live or attenuated microbes or their particles.
–There has been an ongoing debate about the advantages and disadvantages of vaccines ever since its development. Many believe that vaccine protects against many life threatening diseases and outnumbers its disadvantages.
–But some do believe that vaccines are not needed for children and they contain natural immunity against diseases. –Some parents fear vaccines. Vaccines do have some mild to moderate side effects such as rash and pain around the site of injection, fever, allergic reactions.
– Severe adverse effects of vaccine though rare are present. The injected microbe may cause severe infection and allergy resulting in encephalitis, optic neuriis or anaphylactic reactions that may cause death or neurological disorders.
– chances of vaccine related adverse effects are more common in children with weakened immunity or immunological disorders.
- parents fear that thw harmful effects or vaccine may cause permanent damage to child's health and prefer to stick to natural immunity to fight the infections.
