1. Define owner design requirements and project design needs- further to the design related information gathered audition of business case, designer manager should additional design related information from the owner and other relevant sources.
2. Engage design Consultants- it includes all the key design consultants that are required to develop the functional design brief and concept design.
3. Prepare the functional design brief and concept design- Manage the design consultant team to deliver the functional design and concept design that will respond to and record all owner's requirements and needs. 4. Prepare the design management plan- road map for the way the design will be managed and need to be prepared at this stage of design process for best result.

8. determine project approval process- the design manager should now work with the design team to offline and define the planning approval process.

9. prepare design report- finalize and present the functional design brief, concept design and the outline design process results to the owner as an outline design report.
