Hypothesize about the colors of light that chlorophyll pigments will absorb to some degree, based on the color of light they reflect (green).

Solutions

Expert Solution

We all know that the leaves of the plant are green, this is because of chlorophyll's pigment, which stored in the chloroplast. Generally, there are 4 types of pigment in the chlorophyll such as

i)chlorophyll-a (found in all higher plant, algae, and cyanobacteria)

ii)chlorophyll-b(found in all higher plant, green algae)

iii)chlorophyll c(found in diatoms and brown algae)

iv) chlorophyll d(found in red algae)

chlorophyll allows the plant to absorb energy from sunlight, basically, chlorophyll absorbs the sunlight and with that, it also absorbs with wavelengths of 430nm(blue color) and 662nm(red color) of the visible spectrum as a result the rest part of the sunlight reflected, where only green remain, so plants are green. Basically the sunlight has 7colours, which we see in the rainbow, but in the case of leaves a part named carotenoids present which absorb all the color other than green, green become reflected and cause the plant green.
