Describe the three most common routes by which chemicals enter the body and subsequently interact with cells.
The three most common routes in which chemicals enters into the body are,
Ingestion , Skin contact, Inhalation.
Through Ingestion :
Ingestion is one of major source in which chemicals enters into the body through chemical exposure.
When food items are consumed by person , the contaminated food with chemicals enters in to body and effect the internal organs and tissue damage happen. The insoluble chemicals
Which are swallowed along with food are excreted . The soluble chemicals which are swallowed along with food can effect the internal organs of body. When we eat food we have to wash hands throughly because harmful chemicals enters into body through nails which are contaminated. Gastro intestinal infections may arise.
Through Inhalation :
Inhalation means breathing .
Breathing occurs through mouth, nose. Chemicals in form of mist, vapour, gases enters in to the body when inhaled.
When inhalation of these chemicals enters in to the body passes through blood stream ,internal organs , tissue damage happens.Gastro intestinal infections, lung infections may occur when inhalation of chemicals. The internal organs will damage which are sensitive to toxic chemicals.
Through Skin contact :
Skin contact through exposure of toxic chemicals may enters in to the body through skin cells. When it enters in to blood stream it may effect entire body. internal organs, Skin tissues will damage. So proper care should be taken, Skin colour changes, Skin allergies may occur when contaminated with chemicals.
