Calculate the molar concentration of the acid if 125 mL of hydrochloric acid was required to neutralize 45.0 mL of 0.345 M lithium hydroxide. Be sure to use a balanced equation.
Balanced equation:
LiOH(aq) + HCl(aq) ---> LiCl(aq) + H2O(l)
1 mol LiOH = 1 mol HCl
No of mol of LiOH = M*V
= 45*0.345
= 15.5 mmol
No of mol of HCl required = 15.5 mmol
volume of HCl required = 125 ml
concentration of HCl = n/v
= 15.5/125
= 0.124 M
