Explain how Coagulase works and why it’s a virulence factor?
What causes a fever? Why is a fever considered a first line defense and nonspecific?Give two reasons why you would want a fever:
Would it be worse to get an infection from: Someone in the hospital or someone on a bus?
Question no 1
Coagulase is an enzyme that provide virulance to the bacteria and it works by causing coagulation of the blood . The Mechanism is by the conversion of fibrinogen into fibrin
Part b
It is a virulance factor as it will help the bacteria to protect itself immediately from the attack of the host defence. The function is to convert the blood fibrinogen to fibrin and thereby causing blood coagulation.
Part c
Fever is a spike in the temperature of body that is caused by the bacterial or viral infections.
Fever is considered the First line defense as when the temperature increases it will cause the death of some microbe's and it is non specific as it will not target a specific microgansm but all are considered equals
Fever is important as it will reduce the time period of a specific infection by killing microorganism causing it
Fever is important as it is the First line defense against microorganism.
Part d
Getting an infection from hospital would be worse as in a hospital people will be there who will come to hospital when they are not able to control infection or diseases by home remedies. So the intensity of disease will be high
