I hope this helps you.
The four major macromolecules and their importance for life support is as follows:-
1. Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates serve a lot of functions in the animal body. They are present in the skeleton of a lot of animals giving them a body structure and the ability to move. Glucose, fructose etc. are all used in the metabolic pathways in a majority of organisms.
2. Lipids
Lipids are basically fats and oils, they also serve a lot of vital functions in plants and animals. Fats provide insulation to organisms, act as a storage in place of carbohydrates, and also act as a solvent for vitamins in the body.
3. Proteins
Proteins are important for growth, proper functioning, and also the maintainence of a proper structure of all living cells. Hormones control our blood sugar levels, enzymes like amylase and lipases are crucial for digesting food that we eat, antibodies help us fight infections and diseases, muscle proteins allow our body to move.
4. Nucleic Acids
Nucleic acids are the most important for life support. All the 'data' that's required by our body is stored in these macromolecules. DNA carries the codes for all the cellular activities that are needed to be done and the RNA's job is to convert that code stored in the DNA to proteins so that the proteins can finally carry out all the cellular functions.
