Expert Solution

Vector is the DAN molecule work as the career for the transfer or insertion of foreign gene into another cells and express. These have the property of self-replicating, cloning site, markers genes and control elements.

Plasmids – Plasmids are the circular double stranded DNA molecule generally present in prokaryotes. It’s replicate the independently from the chromosomes and carry the some genes responsible for survival of the cells. The size of insertion fragment of foreign DNA could be up to 15 kb. Three type of plasmids ie. Fertility plasmids, Resistant plasmids and Col plasmids. Example pBR322, pBR327, pUC8, pUC9

Cosmids – Cosmids are the combination of plasmids and lambda chromosomes. Possess the cos site of lambda, plasmid’s origin of replication and possess the both of feature. It can carry up to 25-45 kb of foreign DNA. Possess the property as recombinant site, restriction site selectable markers and cohesive site etc.

YACs – YACs vector named as Yeast Artificial Chromosome.. It contain the ARS sequence for replication, CNE4 for centromeric function, TRP1 & URA3 selectable markers genes etc. It can clone the large DNA segment 100 kb to 3000 kb. Example pYAC3
