Is the thrust generated typical of a small jet aircraft engine? I got -99 N explain and give me a source

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:-

A jet engine is a reaction engine discharging a fast-moving jet that generates thrust by jet propulsion. Modern subsonic jet aircraft usually use more complex high-bypass turbofan engines. This broad definition includes airbreathing jet engines ( turbojets, turbofans, ramjets, and pulse jets) and non breathing jet engines( such as rocket jet engines) , in general, jet engines are combustion engines.

The thrust of a typical small jet aircraft engine went from 5000 lbf (22000 N) in the 1950s to 115000 lbf(510000 N) in the 1990s.

You have got 99 N , which is very less , it has to be around 22000 N to 500000 N.

An aircraft is in level flight at airspeed v(t) m/s with thrust T(t) N at cruising altitude. Suppose that at v0 = 250 m/s, the aerodynamic drag experienced by the aircraft at this altitude is: Fd(v) = 0.25v 2 . (1) Then, an extremely simplified model relating v(t) to T(t) is: mv˙(t) + Fd(v(t)) = T(t), (2) where m = 25000 kg. Assume v(t) is always positive. Question 1. Linearize (2) at v0 = 250 m/s, and an appropriate nominal...
