Are sperm produced via the same type of cell division as the egg or different? Is this called mitosis or meiosis?
Is growth present or is absent during early cleavage?
How can you tell the difference between a fertilized an unfertilized egg?
Need help on these questions thanks!
Yes,sperm is produced through the same type of cell division as the egg. This is produced through the cell division type meiosis.Meisosis is the division of a germ cell into four sex cells, each with half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell.In the male, meiosis takes place after puberty . The diploid cells within the testes undergo meiosis to produce haploid sperm cells within 23 chromososmes.
Mitosis is the process of dividing a cell and its nucleus into two cells which each have their own nucleus.Yes,growth is present during early cleavage.During early cleavage ,cleavage divisions in most embryos are reductive.During cleavage the cytoplasm is divided into smaller and smaller cells, called blastomeres. Fertilized egg means, the egg that has been released is fused with the male gamate .Fertilized egg in humans contain 23 chromosomes from mother and 23 chromosomes from father. There are 23 pairs of chromosomes in a fertilized egg . Unfertilized egg means ,in a 28 day cycle in females ,one egg is released from the ovary and it is captuared by the fellopian tube.If male gamate is not fused with the egg cell at the time of ovulation and then the menstruation will start. This is known as unfertilized egg.
