What are the stress hormones? How do they act? Specifically, how does stress affect growth and development?
ANS)
There are 3 stress hormones and they are Adrenaline,Cortisol and Norepinephrine.
Important functions of adrenaline involve enhancing the heart beat, heart rate, enhancing the blood pressure, enlarging the air ways of lungs, increasing the size of pupilin eye, reorganizing the blood to muscles and changing the metabolic actions of body to enhance the blood sugar range.
The cortisol support to regulate the blood glucose range, manage metabolism, support to decrease the swelling or redness and will also helps in the memory formulation. This will also regulating the impacts of salt and water balance and support to control the blood pressure.
Norepinephrine is discharged mainly by the end portions of sympathetic nerve fibres and which functions to enhance force of the skeletal muscle contraction and the speed and strength of contraction of heart.
* Long term stress in the children may dull or prevent the growth of brain and may also slow down the physical development.Long term subjection to the cortisol discharged at the time of the stress reaction may lead to longstanding injury to the growing brain and may badly influence the immune system.
