Explain and evaluate the ways an individual can effectively participate in politics at the national, state and local level. Be certain to provide examples for each level of government. Are there differences possible for the different levels of government? Where would you be most interested or motivated to participate? Why?
There are various ways in which an individual can participate in politics at the national and international level:
There are different levels of government:
Local government is associated with the society matters and living of people in homes with providing basic civic amenities. The local level forms a council with formulation of legislative working members committee. There is selection of mayors and councillors who have the responsibility of controlling the situations in the society. The council collects a tax from the people living in the society which is collected and sent to the state government. There are a set of rules set by the local government which may vary in different regions. It is also involved in the construction of roads, buildings, parks and offices for the welfare of the people living in the society. There should be a proper supply of electricity and water so that the standards of living can be maintained in the society. State government collects the tax like goods and services tax which is important for the development of the country. There are governors and legislative assembly members for regulating the development of the people in the country. State governments provide finance for the development of industries, educational institutions, consumer, sports, police services and punishment of the criminals in the judicial system. The passing of bills for converting them into law amendments is under the control of state governments. Federal government is responsible for the regulation of immigration, imports, exports, airports and safety taxes in the country. The participation of people can be at any level depending upon the availability of seats in the parliament and capacity to volunteer for the proper organization and functioning of the country. The federal country has a legislative branch, house of representatives, Congress committee, senate, President and the court of justice for the citizens of the country.
