2-3 paragraph response. What are Goleman’s six leadership prototypes? Are there any other leadership prototypes that could be added to Goleman’s list? Explain.
Goleman's leadership prototypes are
1. The authoritative leader : This leadership is most effective when the organization needs a new vision or new direction that is during a corporate turnaround. To develop an authoritative style must focus on increasing the expertise, vision, self confidence and empathy. This style can be overbearing when it is used often.
2. The coaching leader: This style connect people's personal goal with the organization's goals. People using this style will be empathetic and encouraging and they will work for developing others for future success.
3. The affiliative leader : This style always maintains harmony within the team. This style can be used perfectly when there is conflict or when the trust has been broken and team needs to get motivated during a high stressed situation. This style is adapted to value the emotion of others..
4. The democratic leader : This style give importance for listening than directing. Leaders who use this style seek input from the team. The team must be involved in problem solving and decision making to develop this style of leadership. Active listening and facilitation skills are required for this style.
5. The pacesetting leader : This style always expect excellence from the team and the leader always make sure that the goals are met on time without compromising the quality of work.
6. The coercive leader : This style always have a tight control over the team. This always have a negative effect on the team as it includes a threat of punishment. But this style can be adapted using crisis situation where the business have to run with the race.

Coach- like leadership : This style explains that execute coach like skills and attitudes in their work environment towards their teams in order to get excellent results. Coaching always reinforces self- leadership so Coach- like leaders develop leaders. Coach -like leader will be aware of certain skills like asking powerful questions, creating trust and awareness, direct communication and feedback, designing actions, goal setting and accountability of the process to the staff.
