3. COVID - 19
Corona virus disease 2019 is an Infectious respiratory viral caused by novel corona virus.
It is a contagious infectious disease.
Novel corona virus is a positive stranded RNA virus.
Mode of infection is through droplets of saliva or sneeze when a patient coughs or sneezes.
This virus causes pneumonia.
This pneumonia was first discovered in December 2019 in south china sea food market in Hubei province, China.
Symptoms include: Dry Cough, Sneeze, high fever, body aches, difficulty in breathing & throat pain.
There is high grade fever in Covid 19 patients. The temperature raises mainly because of cytokines released from alveolar macrophages travel through the blood stream to the hypothalamus, which increases temperature. Hypothalamus is the part of brain in human body which performs thermoregulation.
There are no specific drugs and vaccine which can be used to treat covid 19. But Hydroxychloroquine which is an antimalarial drug is currently being used with some positive results. Azithromycin which is a macrolide antibiotic is also used.
Currently COVID 19 has affected almost all countries and became a pandemic
