I just one to know a different input from someone here. What do you hope to take from a "History" class and be able to apply either in future classes or in your career?
I hope to learn various skills from the historic leaders in the past. In the current times, we have all the technological advancements at our disposal which make it very easier to start a business, operate it in a market, target the right consumers and be successful in the industry.
But I believe it would have been very difficult to do in the past - around 100 years ago. Even then, we have numerous companies which were started in that time period and which are running successfully even today. Mercedes was founded almost 95 years ago whereas Procter & Gamble or P&G as we know them was started almost 180 years ago. It is a long time and the companies have not only survived but have been the pioneer in their respective industry. Satisfying their customers and maintaining the quality of their services would have been tough.
Therefore, I hope to learn management and business operation skills from past leaders who not only understood the needs and demands of customers over a 100 years ago but continue to do so even today.
This can help me in understanding and developing skills that would help me in being resilient and strong when I face unforeseen challenges. Also, i will be quicker to take advantages from opportunities by learning form the leaders who have been the epitome of innovation and success in the world.
