Solutions

Expert Solution

A very clearer view of the process of ethical reasoning is being presented by Kohlberg’s framework. This explains that a decision can be arrived by someone in the case we can see the resolution of an ethical dilemma- which will be based on the moral rationale which is created on the overall life experiences.

  • Ethics: Ethics can be defined as the manners in which an individual look to live the life as per the standards of right or wrong acts- in of these methods the person thinks and acts towards others and the manner in which the person wants to let others think and behave towards him or her.

When an individual takes birth, he or she is just like a blank paper and no preprogrammed morals of ethical values are present. In fact, the individual would go through the 6 stages of Kohlberg’s ethical reasoning framework with the age. The timeline of the progress of different individuals will e different. In fact, there can be a number of persons who never advance to stage 2. Ethical values can be gained with the help of external environment particularly from the parents and/or guardians. A meaningful ethics information is provided by Kohlberg’s theory and it is applicable not only for the university students but for any individual. The current stage of an individual can be determined on the basis of Kohlberg’s theory and thus a view to progression and possibilities of ethical reasoning can be obtained. In fact, this is also quite useful in analyzing the thought process of other individuals which can be quite useful in the fields such as teamwork. When a student takes enrolment in the university, they use the ethical values which were instilled in the earlier. For example, some students can star cheating in test or plagiarize assignments until they are caught. On the other hand, there can be some students who continue with the same stage of the ethical values and they will progress on this process to a higher stage and their ethical values will be affected by the external environment.
