Review the differing views of hate in the eight aspects of personality. Do any of them overlap? Do any contradict each other? Which ones ring true to you and why?
Hate as per different aspects of personality
Psychoanalysis - Feelings of hate start from the oral stage and is re-inforced during toilet training. They also develop negative feelings of jealousy, hostility and rivalry toward parent of same sex.
Neo-Analysis- Hate would be a result of a work of defense mechanism and protecting one's ego.
Biological - Negative feelings and attitude are largely based on hereditary and genetics.
Cognitive- Hate is a conditioned response to a stimulus such as unpleasant words. When people insults you, the person starts hating the other, which is reinforced by the after effects of hate feel- staying away, avoiding etc.
Traits - Hate is a central trait, which is composed of multiple traits. A trait is a characteristic way of behaving.
Humanist -Hate is the result of how one sees and interprets a situation. It is a result of one's subjective experience.
Interactionist -Hate as a personality trait develops out of social interaction with people.
For me, psychoanalysis and neo-analysis approach overlap in the concept of ego. Each theory has a way of explaining behaviour which can be seen as complementary or contradictory. I would say, it is complementary, because human behavior is vast and cannot be completely explained by one approach. Each behavior and action can be due to many reasons and can be explained by many approaches. So, each holds true in its own way. A behavior can be partly due to genetic, partly learnt due to conditioning and reinforcement, some due to social interactions and so on and so forth.
