Now that you studied psychoanalytic and neo-analytic theories, you understand the importance of childhood and parenting on personality. Our society requires that its members obtain specific training and earn credentials before they are permitted to engage in several significant activities, such as practicing medicine or driving a car. As we cannot deny the significance of parenting children, almost anyone who is biologically capable of reproducing is permitted in our society to do so without any prerequisites.

On mentioning the importance of childhood and parenting of personality here is the definition of Neo Analytic and Psychoanalytic

Neo-Analytic Approach. The approach to personality psychology that is concerned with the individual's sense of self as the core of personality. Psyche. The essence of the human mind or spirit or soul; in Carl Jung's theory, personality as the dynamic sum of its parts.

Psychoanalytic theory is the theory of personality organization and the dynamics of personality development that guides psychoanalysis, a clinical method for treating psychopathology.

On this contrary the importance can be displayed in many ways . Infants become securely attached when their parents respond sensitively to them, reinforcing the infants’ confidence that their parents will provide support when needed. Infants become insecurely attached when care is inconsistent or neglectful; these infants tend to respond avoidantly, resistantly, or in a disorganized manner

Childhood social and personality development emerges through the interaction of social influences, biological maturation, and the child’s representations of the social world and the self. This interaction is illustrated in a discussion of the influence of significant relationships, the development of social understanding, the growth of personality, and the development of social and emotional competence in childhood.

Its also believed that the development of these, attachments have evolved in humans because they promote children’s motivation to stay close to those who care for them and, as a consequence, to benefit from the learning, security, guidance, warmth, and affirmation that close relationships provide.

Children’s development of the cognitive and social skills needed for later success in school may be best supported by a parenting style known as responsive parenting. Responsiveness is an aspect of supportive parenting described across different theories and research frameworks as playing an important role in providing a strong foundation for children to develop optimally.

Parenting that provides positive affection and high levels of warmth and is responsive in ways that are contingently linked to a young child’s signals are the affective-emotional aspects of a responsive style.

These aspects, in combination with behaviours that are cognitively responsive to the child’s needs, including the provision of rich verbal input and maintaining and expanding on the child’s interests, provide the range of support necessary for multiple aspects of a child’s learning.
