What are the differences between experimental and quasi-experimental designs? Why might a researcher choose one design over the other?

Experimental research designs are the ones in which the research design is randomised along with manipulation’s by the researcher, which are controlled. The experiment has a standard, against which the variables could be measured, in the form of a control set. Experimental design is where a researcher wants to

The Quasi experimental design is a design in which the causal impacts of intervention would be studied without a random assignment. There is no random assignment or presence of a control group.

A researcher can chose a quasi-experimental design when he would want to study variables where random design need not be employed. An example is where a researcher would want to conduct an educational experiment. Experimental design is used when a researcher wants to study the effect of one variable on the other.

give an Explanation of the following comparison through some examples: Quasi-experimental and true experimental research designs both attempt to determine causal relationships by applying a treatment or condition to one group and comparing the outcome with a control group. A true experimental design is the gold standard in assessing causal relationship because it requires that subjects be randomly assigned to the groups to avoid bias and it controls all extraneous variables

Module seven introduces us to experimental, quasi-experimental, and ex post facto research designs. Three terms that are important for us are: independent variable, dependent variable, and confounding variable. Using your research problem, explain how each of these variable may or may not impact your research design. Your explanation should provide evidence of your understanding of the terms.
