What is the difference between a correlation, a true experimental design, a quasi-experimental design and single case research?
A true experimental design will have the following elements:
A Quasi-experimental design includes the feature of a true experiment but a random sample. Is generally missing in this design and this leads to a difficulty in demonstrating the cause and effect relationship in the research.
A correlational study determines how two variables are correlated i.e. positively, negatively or there is no relationship. It does not find a cause and effect relationship.
Single case design (SCD), is used to rigorously test the success of an intervention or treatment on a particular case i.e., a person, school, community-based on an evaluation method that provides evidence about the general effectiveness of an intervention
