- What cultures would be the most likely to perceive differences between managerial and leadership duties? What cultures would view them as the same? Use evidence to support your answer.
A hierarchical culture of the entity would be most likely to perceive the differences between managerial and leadership duties. While a clan culture would be likely to view the managerial and leadership duties as the same.
This is because in a big entity or company like Apple Inc. there will be a CEO who is the leader of the whole company while there are other managers of departments who work under him for getting the works assigned by him done. And this is a hierarchical culture.
While coming to a smaller enterprise like a startup Horizontal Foods LLP, there is a clan culture as all people work as a being a part of a family and here there won’t be any differences between the manager and the leadership duties.
- Using the results from Step 1 above, write a synopsis of what you learned from the Motivating Potential Employees. Provide the methodology that your organization uses or should use to motivate employees.
Employees are the base and strength of any organization. This is because even if the goals/mission/vision is set by the leaders of the organization, it is the managers and the employees working under them who get this goals/mission/vision achieved making the entity a big success. Hence motivating them and keeping them on the height of productivity in their performance is vital for any entity, its leaders and founders.
One of the methodology which is used by my organization to motivate the employees are the
a. ‘Foster Personal Growth and Career Development’ where the employee’s personal goals are aligned with the company’s goals and they are assured with career growth within the entity.
b. ‘Award recognition for employees achievements’, here we recognize all the good activities done by the employees for the betterment of the future and every day of the company.
c. ‘Listening to employee’s complaints, ideas and comments’, as we take and accept the comments and ideas from the employees. We also keep our doors open for their complaints and the difficulties faced by them not just in the working place but also the difficulties that they might be going through in their personal life.
- Using the results from Step 2 above, write a synopsis on what you learned from the Motivating Potential Employees and provide detailed information to explain how your organization might avoid any miss-perceptions between leadership and management in the culture you are studying.
The management or anyone associated with the higher authority in the company should understand the major differences between the leadership and the management. Coming to the clan culture that I’m studying, there is no proper distinction given and practiced with regard to the management and leader. And in my opinion, every organization despite of the culture they follow or they belong to should have a leader to inspire the entity and its resources. At the same time there should also be a good manager who brings or puts this inspiration to a proper plan which makes this dream of the leader achievable by the employees and other assets of the organization. Eventually the benefit of this inspiration and plan which is now realized would be earned by all the people who thrived for the same.
