In 100- 150 words please answer:
Why is social mobility an unrealistic concept for many members of society?
Statistically speaking, a very small percentage of those born into poverty will be able to change classes. Social mobility is unrealistic for most members of the lower classes due to inequalities. On top of having less money to excite change, they are often faced with inequalities. Statistics show that women and minorities earn lower wages for doing the same job as others.
Social mobility is unrealistic because people in lower class have to work harder, and it’s harder because we have the political-economic system helping people stay at a lower level by using everything they can. Some people are born an upper class, which makes it easier for them to achieve wealth, unlike when you are born into a lower class, which makes it a lot hard. Others do get that chance to move up from lower class to the upper classes but that’s like one and one hundred chance and that’s what makes it unrealistic.
Unless an individual is capable of achieving some sort of “stardom”, most people will not move out of their socioeconomic status. Receiving a college education is typically the first step towards climbing the economic ladder. Most people that are in a low-income status to begin with are often not afforded the same opportunities as their wealthier counterparts thus making it more difficult.
