Read the following ethical case to answer the below three questions.(ANSWER IN YOUR WORDS)
David works as process supervisor at an industrial plant company. In his company, he is known by all his colleagues and superiors as an honest worker whose decisions are always guided by ethical values. Recently, David came to know that due to the irresponsible disposal of company waste, the local groundwater has been contaminated. Because of this, a large number of people living in close proximity to the company have been suffering from severe diseases. However, in spite of knowing this, David does not take any action.
1. List at least five entities (people and organizations) affected by David behavior.
2. Analyze and discuss David behavior based on the six ethical structure factors
3.State the ethical violation level (minor, serious or very serious) for the above-mentioned case, and explain why?
(Please be accurate and make sure that the answer is correct 100%)
1. Waste disposal is the end process of the production of a product. The company in the current scenario disposes of the waste in the nearby water bodies. It is the most inefficient way to dispose of the waste. It is not advisable to dispose of the water in any water body. It leads to excessive exploitation of the resources of the society. Many stakeholders face the impact of the disposal. The five prime entities are neighbors, nearby organizations, households, Flora, fauna, and the environment. All the entities face the negative implication of the waste disposal.
2. There are many ethical factors in the improper waste disposal. The first is the responsibility of waste minimization. It is the responsibility and duty of the authorities to reduce the amount of waste in the enterprise. The second factor is social responsibility. Every company has a social responsibility to protect the environment and stakeholders. The next factor is integrity. The ethical issue with integrity is that the companies do not take into account all the stakeholders. The next factor is honesty because David knew about the inefficient waste disposal, but he still did not take any step. The next factor is the ignorance of sustainable development. The managers must use the sustainable measures. The last factor is loyalty. The companies have misused the trust of the employees and the stakeholders. Hence, it is unethical.
3. The ethical violation is severe in the case. It is primarily because David knew about the waste disposal, but he did not take corrective actions. It is like an act of fraud with the stakeholders. Ethics are fundamental, and businesses must follow the ethics and rules.
