Nerelee’s workplace has WHS policies and procedures that aim to ensure a person’s home is as safe as possible, for both the support workers, and the people receiving care.
Nerelee is aware that there are specific safety requirements that apply to working in a home and community care setting.

Q8. Important information about working with high-risk groups Nerelee should know about are the following:
1. Characteristics of the client should be assisted, like:- (i) size, weight, shape and dimensions of client is considered;
(ii)medical and/or physical condition of the client;
(iii) communication capabilities (i.e. English as second language or dysphasia following stroke);
(iv) cognitive functioning and ability to understand instructions or challenging client behaviours, including the client’s ability and/or willingness to assist
2.can be exposed to work related violence. Risks may arise from the actions of clients, their carers or others at the home or where the services are provided. If the potential for work related violence is not identified and managed properly, workers are at high risk of physical injury or psychological illness.
