Expert Solution

Turboprop engine are most common engines in small propeller driven aircraft. The propeller are fitted directly to the front of the engine.A turboprop engine directly drives the shaft of the propeller via gearing in the engine, but in a turboshaft engine, the engine and gearing are seprate, and it is the only difference between them.

A turbo prop is a simple gas turbine engine.A gas turbine engine mainly devided into three sections,Compressor,Combustion chamber and turbine. In the aircraft turboprop the air enters from the front of the engine and is compressed before being mixed with fuel and ignited. The energy released from the ignition drives the turbine behind the comprssion chamber. These turbines power the propeller by means of shaft and gearing

Some of the turbine power is used to drive compressor. In modern engines this is usually achived with a seprate saft from that driving the propeller speed is independent of compressor speed. The exaust gases leave through rear of the engine and this produce additional thrust, but a small amount as compared to propeller. The exaust is is responsible for only 10% of thrust

Turbo prop are not suitable for high speed because at very high speed propeller lose efficeincy the usual speed of turboprop is 450 -650 Km/hr. Turbo prop of 500 KW is used for small plane and its speed will be around 340- 450 km/hr
