Evolution occurs as a result of natural selection. You have looked into the fossil evidence of the transition as well as the genetic basis of the genes responsible. For this section, theorize and describe how natural selection selected for the adaptation and why it was successful for the organisms in question.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Evolution is a gradual process in which simple form of life becomes complex. Evolution occur as a result of natural selection because no one can live in isolation and natural environment affect the organism. Darwin's tells about " the survival of the fittest". In this case nature select the fittest one over the other and the fittest organism adapt well than others in the nature. For example . Cockroach adapt very well in harsh conditions so nature not eliminate the cockroaches but even gaint dinasour extinct from natural due to the large size . More ever nature do experiments for the betterment of life from which we get the transition state of evolution. For inheritance genes are available but the process of crossing over during meiosis - 1 is the source of variation. Various variation also occur due to environment. So the organisms adapt well with these variations nature select those organisms over the other . So in this way we can say that evolution is the result of natural selection .

Evolution by natural selection is an emergent property of the structure of DNA. According to the theory, individuals vary in form and behaviour in heritable ways, which leads to different survival rates of their offspring. True or False? The type of evolutionary relationship shown in phylogenetic trees is called horizontal gene transfer. Endosymbiosis is not an example of horizontal gene transfer. Use the 9 steps of evolution by natural selection to explain how the body type of Homo erectus & heidelbergensis (both had very similar bodies) could then change to a Homo neanderthalensis body. Begin with a specific morphological change in the body of a Homo heidelbergensis, combined with the relevant selection pressures and adaptive benefits, to work your way through each of the nine steps to explain the evolution of Neandertals.
