Behavioral evolution may involve evolution of anatomical, sensory and brain to carry out a behavior. Behaviors have genetic background. Behaviors are among most complex phenotypes. eg:- detailed analysis of schooling differences in marine and freshwater stickle backs revealed multiple distinct behavioral modules that had evolved to reduce schooling in freshwater sticklebacks.

Many studies showed a potential link between neuronal and genomic architecture of behavioral evolution.
