Organizational
behavior is nothing but the human behavior the affect the
organization positively or negatively. Focusing on organizational
behavior is essential and is concerned with psychological,
interpersonal and behavior within the organization.
The reasons organization behavior is important in managing an
organization are:-
- Organizational behavior influence organizational
culture. Organizational culture is nothing but the
collection of assumptions, values and beliefs which gives the clear
picture to people as how to behave in organization. These shared
assumptions, values and beliefs influence the people in the
organization to depict right kind of behavior in order to perform
their jobs better. Thus particular behavior about employees
portrays the organizational culture.
- Organizational behavior gives clear picture that in order to
improve performance of the employees, it is very
important to motivate them.
- Organizational behavior influence decision
making in the organization. If the organization have
effective communication mechanism then the employees and managers
are likely to make informed decision because of their clear
understanding of business processes.
- Organizational behavior helps the companies to manage
change effectively. Employees often prefer to do same kind
of work and they resist change. Thus it is important for the
managers to communicate change to the employees and give them
opportunities to ask questions.
The three levels of analysis in our Organizational Behavior
model include: -
- Individual level of analysis - At this level,
organizational behavior involves the analysis of different aspect
that is related to employees like creativity, motivation, turnover,
performance, ethics, etc.
- Group level of analysis - At this level,
organizational behavior involves the analysis of different aspect
related to the teams and groups like dynamics of group, conflict
and group cohesion, leadership, roles, etc.
- Organizational level of analysis - At this
level, organizational behavior involves analysis of different
aspect that is related to organization like organizational culture,
, structure, workforce diversity, conflict, change, external
forces, etc.
