The supply chain is a big part of the business for an organization and its processes to be in a good flow. The Decision Support System (DSS) is the management’s tool of decision making based on various systems and data that the business generates from inside and outside from suppliers and economies which is a supporting framework for the management decision making. In the modern days, the systems for the DSS are all based on the computerized format which makes the demand and supply be seen in real-time to make the right decision based on the knowledge-based answers for the decision. The computers use the data from various sources like production, store, supplier’s stock, cost, logistics availability like aspects are all taken into account for the DSS.
The supply chain needs a continuous flow of materials where the DSS may help in:
- Getting the demand of the business over some time in the future from the market survey,
- The supplies for the production for the long term based on the survey and goals of the business to achieve the demands for the future,
- So based on this, the DSS makes the decision making objective for the business based on the real-time as well as data that has been gathered for the job of forecasting with DSS.
- The business can plan its suppliers, cost, and time of getting the needful with good planning in the business with the DSS application in the business for its supply chain.
