The current pharmaceutical supply chain is having the issue of long production lead time, high inventory levels and longer delivery lead time and therefore the supply chain of these companies are inefficient and quite costly.
The management of TEVA pharmaceutical was finding it quite difficult to control the inventory cost and reducing the production lead time. IT managers in TEVA pharmaceutical proposed that by using the tools provided by Information technology, the different issues imposed in the supply chain can be effectively mitigated.
This led to the use of Web 2.0 and different types of social
networking tools to be used in TEVA pharmaceutical so that the
employees can share the supply chain-related information with each
other quite easily. Initially, the company used Microsoft
SharePoint and then switched to Strategy-Nets and then to Moxie
software for social networking among the employees
This strategy came to a fruitful conclusion as it really helped
TEVA pharmaceutical to reduce the lead time and the company was
able to make its supply chain more efficient.
With the help of IT in its supply chain, TEVA pharmaceutical is successful in having improved performance, better collaboration among the partners of supply chain.
