Expert Solution

Human behaviour, the potential and expressed capacity for physical, mental, and social activity during the phases of human life. Behavior is also driven, in part, by thoughts and feelings, which provide insight into individual psyche, revealing such things as attitudes and values. Human behavior is shaped by psychological traits, as personality types vary from person to person, producing different actions and behavior.

the basic tenets of human needs are-

  1. Substinence
  2. Protection
  3. Affection
  4. Understanding
  5. Participation
  6. Leisure
  7. Creation
  8. Identity, and,
  9. Freedom

In my opinion Humanistic Approach most clearly fill the criteria for most effectively address such behavior and needs. The reason for this is humanistic counselling recognises the uniqueness of every individual. It assumes that everyone has an innate capacity to grow emotionally and psychologically towards the goals of self-actualisation and personal fulfilment.

Humanistic counsellors work with the belief that problems are not caused by life events themselves, but how we experience them. Our experience, in turn, will affect and be affected by how we feel about ourselves, influencing self-esteem and confidence. The humanistic approach to counselling therefore encourages the client to learn to understand how negative responses to life events can lead to psychological discomfort. The approach aims for self-acceptance of both negative and positive aspects of our characters and personalities.

Humanistic counsellors therefore aim to help clients to explore their own thoughts and feelings and to work out their own solutions to their problems.
