The nurse might be the only one person close to this patient when they are in time of stress. That might cause the patient to develop a close relation with the nurse. But the relationship that nurse maintains is the person has to be professional always. We are also supported to maintaining our code of conduct in both our professional and personal life.
Confidentiality is another word for expected with the nurses. We are dealing with a lot of personal and confidential data that has to be handled with atmost care. We have to be accountable all the time irrespective of continuous work shift tiring duties stress at the work site all the decisions and actions should be as directed by the caregiver. We are also bound to inform any flaws in our care to the concerned physician.
Patient has to be given the preference always. They may not be having adequate medical knowledge, causing a lot of questions and we have to to answer a lot of themand we should also inform the physician if there is something that we don't know. Always remember this could be the first time for the patient getting admitted to the hospital.
Always approach the patient with a smile and try to give them confidence.the patients are in the hospital because of their ignorances and their mental capability is also at stake. Without the support of relatives and friends they are even more in trouble. It's also our duty to cheer up our patients and give them self confidence.
Staff should be knowledgeable regarding the duties , hospital policies , work arrangements, data handling so that the patient need not go through any unnecessary technical hurdles under our care.
.we also have to remember that there could be some moments which can take away your enthusiasm or which might go not in the way we predicted that is also part of our profession we have to accept that fact and move on.
