Describe the results/consequences of two of the events (items) below (6pts):

a. Dendritic cells displaying antigen via the class-2 pathway

b. B cell displaying antigen via the class-2 pathway.

c. Infected cell displaying antigen by the class -1 pathway.

d. Macrophage displaying antigen by the class-2 pathway.

e. Dendritic cells displaying antigen via the class-1 pathway.

Solutions

Expert Solution

a. Dendritic cells present antigen peptide via MHC class-2 pathway to helper CD4 T cell and activated them for further activation of B cells.

b B cells bind the specific antigens and present their peptide on MHC class II present ton the surface and it is recognized by activated T cells and in this way t Helper cell will activate the B cell and now, B cells will start the production of immunoglobulins or antibodies.

c.Virus infected cells process the virus particle and present them on the surface through MHC class I. it present the antigen to killer or cytotoxic T cells causing or initiation of the programmed cell death, called as apoptosis.

d. Macrophages present the antigen to the cells surface by MHC class to to helper T cells. macrophages resent antigen to tell other white blood cells that it is not a pathogen.

e. Dendritic cell take up dead cells and present antigen to cell surface by MHC class I and present to cytotoxic CD8 T cells in lymph nodes. it is called as cross presenting of antigens.
