Purpose of work break structure is to distribute the work and and to convert the work into a systematic work modules with defined task output. Structure of a work break down structure is basically delivery oriented and based on the final output. The different functionalities and independent processes involved in it are considered as activities and every activities under one process considered to be sub activitiies.

Advantages :

• It helps in organising thoughtd: Set of activities can be plotted down through gantt chart with estimated time
• Ability to calculate estimated time for completion of project
• Visual appeal for viewers and those who review it
• Help in setting realisitic time frames

Disadvantages

• Size of bar doesnt indicate the quantum of work
• Difficult to include in one sheet if number of task is high
• Needs to be constantly updated for any changes
• Not havign capability estimate resource and cost.
